GREAT TIPS FOR YOUR ANCHOR
Storage: We recommend stowing the anchor away while not in use. A
commercial shrimp / crab basket makes a great place to put the anchor, rope,
and chain. A basket will also keep the mud to a minimum and is easy to move
around boat.
Chain: For rough conditions we recommend 4-6 ft of 3/8 galvanized or
stainless chain. Make sure the chain is secure to the rope end and anchor
using a shackle.
Knot: The very best knot for tying the rope to the anchor is a bowline. It's
easy quick and won't fail if tied right. Click on bowline pic for a great tip on
tying a bowline.
Rode: The Coast Guard recommends a 7 to 1 ratio. You can get buy with a
4/1 with our anchor, but in rough conditions always use more rode.
Rope: A braided nylon rope will out perform 3 strand twist rope. We
recomend at least 3/8 inch diameter.
